History
Established in 1978
Barney’s opened its first burger shop in Oakland in 1978. We were one of the first restaurants to introduce the concept of gourmet hamburgers. That early vision helped set us apart and shaped who we are today.
Over the years, Barney’s expanded and opened nine more burger restaurants. We also broadened our menu to serve a wider range of tastes and preferences. While we are proud of the awards we continue to win, we are most proud of the role we play in our communities. For many families and friends, Barney’s has become a lasting tradition.
